The time has come to swap again!
HOW IT WORKS
We collect donated clothing in advance, sort and organize it by size, and set up a convenient shopping environment for everybody to enjoy on the day of the swap (October 4th). We will be accepting donations now until September 28th.
You can drop off donations at The Smitten Kitten (at 3010 Lyndale Ave Minneapolis, MN 55408) any time during business hours. Just ask whoever is working, they’ll happily accept your donations. You can also schedule a donation pick up or drop off by contacting swap organizers Hannah and Angela directly via facebook, or using the contact form below.
WHAT TO DONATE
We ask that donations be clean (washed, please!), free of pet hair, and as close to odorless as possible. We are accepting garments in women’s size 20 and larger, 2X or clothing with at least a 40 inch waist. Clothing for all genders is welcome – including casual, business, all seasons, swimwear, pajamas, accessories and shoes of any adult size. Please no socks or undergarments. Accessories, such as jewelry, ties, shoes and purses will also be accepted.
ON THE DAY
On Saturday, October 4th everyone is invited to join us at Embodied Health, LLC in St. Paul to look through all the awesome donated items and pick out some new looks! Doors will open at 2pm, and the swap will last until 5pm.
There is no cost for clothing, and no limit on how much clothing you can take from the swap.
We are asking swap attendees to pay an admission fee this time around, so that we can pay to rent the space and cover costs including future clothing rack rental and web hosting fees.
Admission is on a sliding scale, $5-$10 dollars. Please plan to pay what you can at the door – no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
THE VENUE
Embodied Health, LLC is a yoga and therapeutic massage studio. Our event will take place in the yoga studio, which is a “no shoes zone.” Please plan accordingly! There are lots of cubbies available to store your street shoes during the event.
There are three concrete steps at the front door to the venue. These steps tend to be accessible for people using walkers or canes. Inside the venue there is a single stall, unisex bathroom with one step up at the door. If you have other accessibility requirements, please do not hesitate to contact us directly!
We chose Embodied Health for our swap location because it’s an awesome, inclusive health center that already serves as a community focal point for people of all sizes. In fact, Embodied Health offers a yoga class called “SizeABLE Yoga” that’s perfect for fat yogis of all experience levels. We highly recommend checking it out.
